MCC and the Retail Banking  Team Train  DSEs on the bank’s retail liabilities products to increase product knowledge  and transaction volumes

The Marketing and Corporate Communications (MCC) Unit, in collaboration with the Retail Banking Team, conducted a training session on Saturday, May 6th, to enhance the product knowledge of over 50 Direct Sales Executives (DSEs), Relationship Officers (ROs), and Customer Service Officers (CSOs) on the banks retail liabilities products. The objective of the training was to increase transaction volumes and customer enrolment on the different products.

The Acting Head of Retail Banking, Anita Thomas, led the presentation session and emphasized that the training was necessary to refresh the staff on the different liability products, close knowledge gaps, and enhance sales, cross-selling, and up-selling of the product offerings. The training covered various types of accounts that can be opened, documentation required, customer categorization, and the benefits customers stand to gain by maintaining the account.

Anita also used real-life examples to illustrate the importance of the training and emphasized that it was not just about imparting information but ensuring sales staff understand the products and can categorize each potential customer and their needs to the product that best suits them.

The bank offers different types of liability products, including the Savings Account – TIER 1, which is designed to encourage the un-banked and the under-banked to open a savings account, and the Savings Account – TIER 2 (UBA NEXT LEVEL), which can be opened without immediate funding. Other products include UBA KIDDIES (0-13 years), UBA TEENS (13-17 years), UBA NEXT GEN (18-25 years), and UBA DREAMS.

The training was well-attended by staff from different departments, including MCC Staff, DSE staff across all the branches, Relationship Officers, Head Personal Banking, and the COO.
