Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary meets the three (3) Finalists of the 2​nd Edition of UBA Foundation National Essay Competition in Sierra Leone

As we are wrapping up with activities during the festive season, the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has met with the three finalists of the 2021 UBA Foundation National Essay Competition winners at his New England Ville Office in Freetown.

During the meeting, the Minister congratulated the finalists and extended his sincere appreciation to the MD/CEO UBA Sierra Leone Usman Isiaka and his team for successfully organising the competition for the second time in a row.

He called on the bank to continue the good work noting that the private sector has a key role to play in promoting good quality education in the country in line with the Government’s Free Quality Education Initiative.

The MD/CEO pledged the bank’s continued support in promoting the CSR initiative of the UBA Foundation in Sierra Leone which focuses on education, environment, economic empowerment, and special projects.
This year, Rebecca P.L Kaibanya from the Saint Augustine Secondary School Lungi Port Loko District age 14 came 1st, 2nd position went to Musa Ayowova Musa Sierra Leone Grammar School age 15, and 3rd went to Sakinah Sarah Marrah from the  Beacon High School age 16.

All three winners have won Scholarships worth $10,000 from the 2021 UBA Foundation National Essay Competition in Sierra Leone.

The competition was organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE).

A live TV Studio Session Event was held at the African Young Voices (AYV) Television on Saturday 18th December where the following emerged as the winners of the 2021 UBA Foundation National Essay Competition:

The top 12 finalists who made it to the final stage of selecting the 3 overall National Winners received one brand new HP Laptop each. Further to this, each of the 12-finalists received a Certificate of Recognition while the top three winners received trophies that will be a legacy for them to cherish.

The finalists were accompanied by their parents during the visit to the Minister.
