From Old Money to African Heritage, UBA Sierra Leone celebrates its customers during Customer Service Week with five days of creativity, culture, connection and appreciation.
At UBA Sierra Leone, going the Extra Mile is more than a theme; it is a mindset.
For this year’s Customer Service Week, staff brought that mindset to life in an exciting five-day celebration dedicated to the people at the heart of everything we do: our customers.
Through fashion, creativity, teamwork and engaging customer-focused activities, the bank transformed the week into an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the valued customers who continue to journey with us.
Day 1: Old Money — Excellence Never Goes Out of Style: The week opened with Old Money, bringing timeless elegance and sophistication to the workplace. From classic looks to polished styles, staff reminded us that excellence never goes out of style. Every customer interaction is an opportunity to make a lasting impression and exceed expectations.
Day 2: The Matrix — Entering a World of Possibilities: Day two took staff into The Matrix, with sleek, futuristic looks and a message of innovation. Just as the world continues to evolve, UBA remains committed to adapting and finding new ways to make banking easier, faster and better for its customers.
Different look. Same mission. Go the Extra Mile.
Day 3: A Walk in Their Shoes — Seeing Service Differently: Perhaps one of the most meaningful days of the celebration, A Walk in Their Shoes challenged staff to step beyond their usual roles and appreciate the experiences of people engaged in everyday occupations.
From construction workers to other essential service providers, staff embraced different roles and outfits, reinforcing the importance of empathy, respect and understanding in customer service.
The message was simple: understanding our customers begins with walking in their shoes.
The day also brought excitement to customers through a special Lucky Dip organized by the Customer Experience (CX) team. The initiative gave lucky customers the opportunity to win a range of gifts, including UBA-branded notebooks and pens, provisions and other delightful items.
Adding a personal touch to the celebration, the Executive Director, who also doubles as the Acting Managing Director/CEO, personally presented the gifts to customers, exchanging warm handshakes and sharing in their excitement. The gesture demonstrated the bank’s commitment to making customers feel valued and appreciated beyond their everyday banking experience.
Day 4: Y2K — Bringing Back the Good Vibes: Day four transported UBA Sierra Leone back to the early 2000s with the Y2K theme. From bold fashion choices to nostalgic styles, staff brought the energy and fun of the era back to life.
It was a celebration that showed how customer experiences can be professional, personal and enjoyable.
Day 5: African Heritage — Our Roots, Our Pride: The celebration reached its colorful climax with African Heritage. Staff proudly showcased African-inspired attire, celebrating the culture, identity and heritage that connect us as a people.
It was a fitting close to the week, reflecting UBA’s identity as Africa’s Global Bank and its commitment to the communities it serves.
Going Beyond the Expected: Five Days, One Powerful Message. From welcoming customers with a smile to listening with empathy, resolving concerns and creating special moments of appreciation, every interaction presents an opportunity to do more.
At UBA Sierra Leone, Customer Service Week was not just about what our staff wore. It was about who we serve, why we serve them and the difference we can make when we choose to go beyond expectations.
Because our customers deserve more than service.
They deserve the Extra Mile.
